PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — Bob Pompeani is joined by Chris Botta of the Sports Business Journal.

Botta says that it’s a very fluid situation, but he would point a finger of blame more at the NHL at this point.  He says that it seems like both sides have agreed to parameters to get the split 50-50, but in what year of the agreement?

Botta describes the “make whole” provision.  He says that the ball is in the owner’s court and eventually the players have to decide whether to listen to the owners or play elsewhere.

He’s still hopeful that a deal can be struck in the next week or two, and a season can start in early December. Botta also discusses the cancellation of the Winter Classic and the effect that will have on future events.
