Bethel Park Apartment Fire

BETHEL PARK (KDKA)- Fire forced people out of an apartment building in Bethel Park on Sunday night.

The fire started around 11:00 p.m. Sunday night on the 4th floor of this apartment building along Dorchester Road.

The Bethel Park Fire Chief says an elderly couple, who had just moved in, noticed a smell of smoke in the apartment. When they went to the living room, they discovered some boxes were on fire.

The couple, and everyone else in the building were able to get out safely.

The fire chief says the fire was contained to the one apartment, but due to smoke and water damage, 10-15 others on the 4th floor were displaced.

The property management team helped those displaced, by putting them in apartments that were currently unoccupied.

It could be a couple of days before they are allowed to return to their homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the county fire marshal.
