Wexford Elementary Students Raise Money For Turkey Fund

WEXFORD (KDKA) -- For years, KDKA-TV has partnered with schools all around the area.

Wexford Elementary has been a long-time member and they raised a lot of money again this year.

"It's gonna go to other people who don't have as much money and don't have the money to buy food for Thanksgiving," said Andy Swartoot, a third grader.

The money is raised as the kids get donations. It's called the "Read to Feed" program. The more they read the more money they raise.

"It matters because you get to feed other families and it helps everybody," said Darcy Lund, another third grader.

The number of dollars that they have raised in the program over the years now is more than $100,000.

The 31st KDKA-TV Turkey Fund wraps up next Thursday on Thanksgiving.
