Pedestrian Critical After Larimer Hit & Run Accident

LARIMER (KDKA) – Police are looking for a driver who struck and critically injured a pedestrian in Larimer Sunday night.

According to police, the accident happened near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Meadow Street around 8 p.m.

A man in his 40s or 50s stepped into the crosswalk and was hit by a dark colored SUV or minivan.

"It looks like he was hit approximately 20 feet from the crosswalk to the inbound side of Lincoln avenue. According to what we're putting together, it appears he had already entered the crosswalk," Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Mike Pilyih said.

The driver fled the scene, but it may be difficult to locate them because there were no cameras on the traffic lights.

"We do know that the vehicles that were traveling - according to some eyewitnesses - were traveling through the green light, but we're just not sure at this time," Sgt. Pilyih said.

Name of the victim has not been released and he was last listed in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
