Roethlisberger Announces Birth Of Son

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is officially a father.

According to a statement on his website, Benjamin Jr. was born at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday.

The healthy baby boy weighed 7-pounds, 1 ounce and was 19.6 inches long.

"We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, it really means a lot to us. God is so good," the statement said.

Ben's wife, Ashley, delivered the child at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Big Ben continues to recover from the shoulder and rib injuries he suffered during a 16-13 overtime win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 12.

Charlie Batch is expected to get the start against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday as the Steelers look to bounce back after a 13-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week.
