Millvale Vet Threatens To Shoot Police, SWAT Called

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man was taken into custody, ending a nearly two-hour SWAT situation in Millvale.

It started around 8 p.m. Thursday night in the 200-block of William Street.

Police responded to a house where a man allegedly barricaded himself and threatened to shoot police. Initial reports indicated he had a shotgun in the house.

Officials have not identified the man, but say he is a veteran who was having flashbacks and has been taken to Western Psych.

Neighbors say there were two men living in the house and by all accounts seemed nice.

"They just moved in like three weeks ago and they were both really nice guys, very nice," neighbor Al Zeigler said. "One held one tour over in Iraq and the other one had two tours in Iraq. And like I said, they're both nice. They said if we ever need anything to get them, they'd be more than happy to help us out with anything we needed."

"And I just hope whichever one it was that had the problem, I just hope they can take care of them," he said.

Some neighbors in the McBride apartments on the 600-block of Lincoln Avenue were evacuated as a precaution.

Around 10 p.m. the man was taken into custody.

No one was hurt.
