1 Arrested After Munhall Standoff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police arrested a man after an hour-long standoff in Munhall Borough.

It started around 4 p.m. Tuesday at a duplex in the 1300-block of Louise Street, near the 15th Avenue intersection.

Around 4:30 p.m. police said they arrested Brian Rager, who is believed to be in his 40s.

He allegedly barricaded himself in a home with weapons after his father, Terry Rager who lives next door, called police out of concern for his son.

SWAT was called to the scene, but police say they were able to talk Rager out of his house before it arrived.

The father said Rager has been in and out of jail, primarily on drug charges.

"It's drugs is what it is," Terry Rager said. "He's not the same person, he's a good kid, it's just the drugs is what it is."

Rager said he called police to get his son help and was worried he might have hurt himself.

Munhall Police Chief Pat Campbell said police had been to the house three times Tuesday.

Rager allegedly got into a fight with his girlfriend initially and struck her.

There were no shots fired or hostages as a result of the incident.
