Numbers Drawn In Record Powerball Jackpot

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Across the country, people lined up to get a shot at Wednesday night's massive Powerball lottery jackpot.

It's a record-breaker with more than $550 million up for grabs.

The numbers drawn are: 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and a Powerball of 6.

And big money means big dreams.

And in those final hours, dreamers were feeding that ticket-buying frenzy.

"Been playing all week long; just thought I'd stop at different places," said Scott Woods, who was out picking up a last-minute ticket.

"Probably have a better chance at getting hit by a bolt of lightning twice in the same place, but you just gotta take a chance," added Curtis Neil, another Powerball player.

So, let's talk about those odds, compiled by expert statisticians.

Achieving the role of commander-in-chief is more likely to happen.

"I don't know about the president, really?" said one woman who was buying a ticket.

Other more probable scenarios include becoming a NASA astronaut, a Hollywood supermodel, or how about giving birth to quadruplets.

"Yeah, that's pretty crazy," said Mark Tarasi, an expectant father out getting his ticket.

But one chance is better than no chance at all; those six little numbers that could change someone's life.
