300 Pound Bear Shot In Allegheny Co.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A 300 pound black bear was shot and killed in Elizabeth Township.

The Game Commission reports the male bear was legally shot south of Pittsburgh, and it was the first bear of the year to have been shot south of the city.

Derrick Honaker sent KDKA-TV this picture of the bear.

The Game Commission says the same bear was trapped previously in Fayette County and at the time weighed 160 pounds. It was trapped again in May in Westmoreland County, but game commission officials could not confirm how much it weighed.
