Harmony Man Accused Of Using Hot Coffee, Sword In Alleged Attack

BUTLER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Harmony man is in the Butler County Prison on a $10,000 bond after authorities say he threw a cup of hot coffee on his former roommate and then threatened him with a sword.

Authorities say 27-year-old Devin Lutz was hanging out with a friend in the 600-block of Bessemer Avenue in Butler Township Tuesday night.

The friend lives right next door to where Lutz had previously lived with John Martucci. Martucci told police he had recently kicked Lutz out.

While Lutz was hanging out next door, investigators say he reportedly went into Martucci's home and asked to use his phone. When Martucci said no, police say Lutz poured a cup of coffee on Martucci.

Police say Lutz then went back to the other apartment and grabbed a large sword.

According to the criminal complaint, Lutz said he threatened Martucci's life and allegedly said he would cut him up. After the sword came within four inches of Martucci, police were called.

They arrested Lutz and say they believe he was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.

Lutz has preliminary hearing Dec. 6.
