Alleged Altercation Over Beer Lands Woman In Jail, Boyfriend In Hospital

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- A Westmoreland County woman is now facing charges after police say an argument with her boyfriend, allegedly over beer, turned physical with the man being taken to the hospital.

Vanessa Robinson of Greensburg is now behind bars, facing charges of aggravated assault after police say she and James Gallone got into a fight, allegedly about beer.

The incident happened at the Hempfield Towers in Hempfield Township back on Thursday night.

"The person who purchased the alcohol says, 'I'm leaving;' goes to grab the beer that he had purchased. The female was arguing with him that, 'you're not taking the beer,'" said Trooper Steve Limani, of Pennsylvania State Police. "It ended up becoming a physical altercation."

According to police, the altercation escalated with kicking, pushing and beer being poured onto the floor.

"She went and grabbed the knife and started wielding the knife in his direction," Trooper Limani said. "She cut him in the arm, neck, back and stomach areas prior to him being able to disarm her. He had to receive several stitches."

Gallone was treated for his injuries at Westmoreland Hospital. Meanwhile, Robinson was arrested and charged in the incident.

"Whenever you're talking about an individual that has a knife and they're wielding it in another person's direction and you're talking about minor injuries, just the person receiving just a few stitches, very fortunate, obviously it could have been life threatening," added Trooper Limani.
