Police Investigate After Man Is Shot In Car In McKees Rocks

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot and wounded while riding in a car in McKees Rocks on Tuesday evening.

The shooting took place around 8 p.m. on Amelia Street near the corner of Chartiers Avenue by the Bottom Dollar grocery store.

The victim, a young man in his 20s, was riding in a Chevy sedan. He was sitting in a rear passenger seat behind the driver. The side window had been shot out.

Investigators say they are looking into the possibility that shots may have been fired from both inside and outside the vehicle.

A man who did not want to be identified said he heard as many as a dozen shots and then witnessed something highly unusual.

"I seen her coming out of the car while talking on a cell phone, dragging a kid out of the backseat of that car with one hand and tried to dump him on the street there," he said. "I come walking over to see what she was doing, kinda looked like she pulled somebody out of the back. Then, I seen it was a person and I asked her, 'is he still alive, is he still alive?'"

Another man said he saw the victim lying in the street. He said he thought the victim had been hit by a car.

"And then I saw the guy lying by the back tire," he said. "I thought he got run over by the car, and then I heard he was shot. He was saying he couldn't breathe."

The victim was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. There's been no word on his condition.

Allegheny County Homicide Detectives and McKees Rocks Police continue to investigate.
