Roethlisberger Could Be Back For Sunday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says Ben Roethlisberger will have the opportunity to prove he's healthy enough to return to action this week. Meanwhile the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says the team expects Ben to play this week against the San Diego Chargers.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin said Ben is getting closer to health, and did throw successfully on Monday.

Roethslisberger's test will come on Wednesday when he will be given the opportunity to throw more in practice.

"We have two known healthy quarterbacks, Ben is getting closer to health." Tomlin said during his weekly press conference Tuesday.

Tomlin said the team is preparing to go with Charlie Batch at quarterback, unless Ben can prove that he is ready to go.

While the news is good on Ben, the Steelers will be without cornerback Ike Taylor for at least two games and possibly longer.

Taylor has some form of hairline fracture in his lower right leg, an injury that occurred on the second play in Baltimore when he broke up a deep pass for Ravens receiver Torrey Smith.

The team also announced that Linebacker Lamarr Woodley is questionable with an ankle injury.
