Thieves Strike Thrift Store Twice

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Workers were repairing a broken front window at the Community Thrift Center in Ross Township Thursday.

Someone went through the window Wednesday night and tried to cut through a safe that was in the main office.

But the thieves were unsuccessful.

Once inside, they realized they were on camera, so the would-be-thieves took the surveillance hard drive so police would not have pictures of them.

Cameras at the facility are back up and running.

Officials say the safe only held petty cash.

None of the money generated through the sale of gently used merchandise is never kept there and those monies help to benefit veterans of all wars.

The center was also burglarized last month and thieves did get away with a small amount of cash.

Police have no suspects in either case.
