Vehicle Rams Into Hotel Jewelry Store

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Shoppers at the Casa D'Oro jewelry store got more than they bargained for when a van crashed through the outside window and wall Saturday.

Around 2 p.m., a van rammed into the store, located inside the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Marshall Township, right off of Interstate 79.

"I was in the jewelry store when I happened to be looking toward the window and the van came through," witness Bill McClelland of Cranberry said.

The female driver somehow lot control of the vehicle and was taken to the hospital.

"She was conscious, she seemed to be doing well, she was taken to the hospital anyway," McClelland said.

The woman, whose daughter was also in the car, ran into the hotel's jewelry store and shattered the window and knocked a hole in the wall.

Another witness said it was a "close call" for one person in the store who almost was hit by the car, but of the approximately 40 people in the store, no one was hurt.

"There were people all throughout the store except that little corner that the van came through," Reza Liaghat with Casa D'oro said. "So everyone is very lucky."
