Indiana Twp. Burglary Suspect Charged

INDIANA TWP. (KDKA) - A police search for a burglary suspect in Indiana Twp. prompted a lockdown of a school in the area.

According to police, the search started around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Dorseyville Road.

Fox Chapel Police armed with machine guns searched the area with three dogs in the woods. Shaler and O'Hara Township Police were also involved in the search.

One person was brought into the Indiana Township Police Station just before 10 p.m. in handcuffs for questioning.

KDKA-TV's David Highfield asked him if he had been involved in any burglaries. The man replied with, "no comment."

A neighbor saw the suspect trying to get into a home and took a picture.

"I was in the kitchen cooking and I happened to walk into my family room and saw this young fellow walking up the street. I had no idea who he was. I saw him go inot my neighbor's driveway and he proceeded to go around all the doors and check the keypad on my neighbor's garage and he just looked very suspicious to me," she said.

Fairview Elementary School was locked down, but parents were able to pick up their kids and buses took students home as well.

The suspect may be connected to other burglaries in Indiana Township last week.

"This is the second residential burglary we had in this area. We did have another burglary up off of fox chapel road. The actor is a white male actor, looks to be about approximately 20 years of age, short hair. That's all we have at this time," Indiana Township Police Det. Steve Colucci said.
