PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Firefighters are responding to a house fire in Tarentum.

The fire started around 9 a.m. Friday in the 600-block of 9th Avenue.

Officials say the fire started in the basement and quickly spread to other parts of the house, engulfing it in flames.

The fire was first spotted by a borough employee, who’s quick efforts helped save the family members in the house.

Unfortunately the family dog did not make it out in time.

No word on if there are any injuries.
