LG Recalls 457,000 Top-Loading Washing Machines

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDKA) – A voluntary recall has been issued for nearly 500,000 top-loading washing machines.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with LG Electronics issued the recall for 457,000 washing machines because of excessive vibration.

According to a press release, the excessive vibration and shaking can cause "the drum to come loose during use, posing a risk of injury to consumers and property damage to the surrounding area."

At least 343 reports of excessive vibration have been reported to LG. Of those reports, at least 187 caused minor property damage and resulted in one injury.

The recall has been issued for three LG and three Kenmore Elite Brand models that were manufactured between February of 2010 and November of 2011.
