Jeff Karstens Open To A Reunion With Pirates, Has Not Been Made An Offer

PITTSBURGH (NewRadio 1020 KDKA) -- Free agent pitcher and former Pittsburgh Pirate Jeff Karstens joined Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to discuss some of the rumors about his health and where he's hoping to land this year.

Right off the bat, we got into Pirates' General Manager Neal Huntington saying the team made Karstens an offer, to which he says if an offer was made, "then my agent didn't tell me."

Karstens said he'd be open to returning to the Pirates because they gave him a start to his career and he has a lot of emotional ties to the city and organization.  Those ties go so far that his own grandmother who recently passed away, was buried in a Pirates' jersey.

When discussing what sort of contract he's looking for, Karstens said there isn't a specific dollar amount he wants, he's just looking for the right situation.

We wrapped things up with Karstens discussing the trade deadline last year for the Pirates and if they ruined the teams chemistry.
