Man Charged With Stealing Christmas Packages

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police helped make Christmas a little brighter for some residents in Squirrel Hill, after they say they arrested a man stealing packages.

Police noticed 48-year-old Steven Green from the Wilkinsburg area, walking in and out of apartment building lobbies on Hobart Street, Wightman Street, and Phillips Avenue.

They saw Green opening and throwing away a white packing envelope.

When they tried to arrest him, he took off running through several backyards. They were finally able to track down Green and arrest him in the 5900 block of Nicholson Street.

Officers also found the packages Green was trying to steal, and returned them to the victims. Police say the packages were Christmas presents.

Green is now charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and escape.
