PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –Police are investigating the remains of a person found in the woods, believed to belong to a missing man.

Donald Mariacher, 80, of Mercer, went missing July 13.

After several searches, police say they weren’t able to find Mariacher.

However, skeletal remains were found Dec. 1 just less than a mile away from Mariacher’s home in a heavily wooded area.

Police say an anthropologist is conducting a forensic analysis on the remains and it has not been determined if they belong to Mariacher.

The investigation is ongoing.
