Clerk Turns The Table On Robber With Pepper Spray

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Christmas Eve robbery at a local convenience store didn't go as the robbers planned, when the clerk turned the tables on them.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday at the Daily Mart in Allentown.

The store was quiet when a man walked in, who sure wasn't St. Nick.

Khalid Hussein was on duty when police say 43-year-old Mark Givner walked in and attempted to rob the store.

Video surveillance footage shows that Givner was armed with nothing more than his finger in his pocket, but he threatened Hussein if he didn't give him all of the money in the register.

But Hussein slowly reached for a can of pepper spray next to him and sprayed Givner in the face.

Givner left the store with Hussein following close behind.

Police found Givner along Arlington Avenue, stumbling half blind from the pepper spray and trying to tear off his contaminated clothes.

He was then arrested and taken to jail.

A woman named Marissa Hall was also arrested in conjunction with the attempted robbery.
