1 Arrested After Car Hits East Pittsburgh Home

EAST PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – One man was arrested after leading police on a brief chase and crashing into a home in East Pittsburgh early Wednesday morning.

According to police, the car crashed into a home on Ridge Avenue around 1:45 a.m.

East Pittsburgh Police said it all started when they got a call about a possible drunk driver on the road.

The driver has been identified as 33-year-old Donald Joseph Morgan.

According to police, he was highly intoxicated and when police attempted to pull him over. Police lost him as he sped off before trampling over two fences and slamming into a home on Ridge Avenue.

Police said Morgan jumped out of the car and took off running.

An officer stopped on the Hollow Bridge spotted Morgan running past. The officer pursued him and watched as he tumbled down the hillside in an attempt to escape again.

He was soon found and arrested.

Homeowner Frank Koncerak said the car into the house was startling, but they're lucky the damage wasn't worse and that everyone was okay.

"My son's room is right there where the car hit. First thing was is he okay? Second thing I thought was the gas meter's right on the side of the house too and that was okay," Frank Koncerak said.

Morgan was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. He has since been released and is back in police custody.

East Pittsburgh Police said they have charged Donald Morgan with DUI, fleeing and eluding police and criminal mischief.
