Homeless Man Takes Westmoreland Co. Ambulance For A Spin

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A homeless man is in police custody after allegedly taking a Westmoreland County ambulance on an overnight joy ride.

The ambulance was taken from the Eastern Area PreHospital in Turtle Creek Tuesday night and reported missing to Swissvale Police.

Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, Rostraver Police spotted the ambulance along State Route 51 and saw 19-year-old Jonathan Miracle, who is homeless, standing next to the vehicle.

Police say they spotted Miracle next to the vehicle's open door and was not wearing typical Emergency Medical Services clothing.

Miracle was charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property.

He is being held at the Westmoreland County Detention Center and is awaiting arraignment.
