PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – One person was taken to the hospital and another was injured after a crash caused by black ice.

The crash was one more in a string of accidents since Wednesday, when near-freezing rain coated many roads with a dangerous layer of ice.

Just after midnight, the two men were driving on Main Street in Irwin.

They ran into several telephone poles after losing control of their truck on black ice and eventually crashed into the William Snyder Funeral Home.

One man suffered significant injuries and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, his condition is unknown.

Sources say a nurse nearby offered significant aid of the two men, but later disappeared.

After the crash, crews were seen putting anti-skid materials on the road.
