PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Coach Andy Pacak joined KDKA’s Chris Moore to talk about Chavas Rawlins, a student athlete who is graduating early from Monessen High School and is starting school at West Virginia University this semester.

Rawlins is not going to be allowed to walk with his classmates at Monessen’s commencement ceremony because of comments he made support of friends who were expelled for an incident involving drugs and weapons on social media sites.

Coach Pacak supports Rawlins who he thinks should be able to walk with the rest of his classmates.

Pacak says that Rawlins is not a “turn his back on your kind of kid,” a leader and that his comments weren’t meant to hurt anybody.

Rawlins is going to West Virginia on a scholarship and graduated this semester from Monessen because he fulfilled all of his requirements early.
