Several People Sickened At Beaver Co. WalMart, Cause Uncertain

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Beaver County WalMart was evacuated after several people were sickened Saturday night.

Around 7 p.m., Beaver County 911 received a call that several people inside the store complained of irritated ears and throats.

"Some of the patrons, along with the employees, weren't feeling well," Bill Brucker with the Center Township Fire Department said.

Brucker said the fire department surveyed the store, as well as rooftop units and weren't able to find anything.

A Beaver County hazardous material team was also called to the store to test for irritants, but still found nothing.

Five people were treated on scene and taken to the hospital.

Eventually, the store was handed over from authorities and reopened.

It is still not clear what sickened the people inside the store.
