State Police Issue Amber Alert For Philadelphia Girl

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Pennsylvania State Police issued a statewide Amber Alert Monday evening for a 5-year-old girl who they say was abducted from a school in the Philadelphia area.

According to police, 5-year-old Nailla Robinson was taken from the Bryant School on Cedar Avenue in Philadelphia just before 9 a.m. on Monday.

Robinson is described as being African American with curly black hair and brown eyes. She stands at three-feet-four-inches tall, weighs 35 pounds and has a medium skin tone.

Police say the suspect was wearing black Muslim-style clothing.

Anyone with information on the little girl's whereabouts is being asked to dial 911.

When the Amber Alert was issued, you may have gotten a very loud alert on your cell phone.

It's part of a new wireless emergency alert system that went into effect at the beginning of the year.

Cell phone users can get automatic alerts about missing children in their area.

There are also presidential alerts and imminent threat alerts.

The alerts come enabled on most newer cell phones, but you can opt out.
