Author Of Manti Te'o Hoax Gives Detail Into How The Story Unfolded

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Co-Author of the Deadspin.com story about Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend, Jack Dickey joined the Starkey and Miller show with Colin Dunlap on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to discuss the story he has worked to break.

Dickey told us they first heard from a reader of the website that "there was something fishy about Manti Te'o's girlfriend Lennay Kekua who had reportedly died from leukemia.

According to Dickey, they began looking into this story after that tip, at first not believing it's true, but eventually realizing from the evidence they uncovered that Lennay Kekua was in fact made up.

We also got into Te'o's involvement in this story and Notre Dame's statement claiming the linebacker was fooled by someone who made up this fake identity.  Dickey helped us examine this possibility, and if he believed Te'o was fooled, or if he was in on the hoax.

We wrapped things up asking Dickey about the process they went through to prove in fact that the story of Lennay Kekua was made up.
