Crews Continue Treating Roads, Some Areas Dicey

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – PennDOT has been working overnight to clear and salt the roads, but not everyone's having an easy time getting around.

Around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, a car went off the road on Aber Drive in Penn Hills. The car hit a house and nicked the gas line, causing a small leak.

In many areas, trucks started working Tuesday night to treat roads.

With only about an inch of snowfall around the Pittsburgh region, the thin snow cover is mixing with anit-skid material on the road to create a slush.

Many areas north of the city are getting hit a bit harder and weather advisories for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Somerset and Washington counties have been issues.

Officials urge caution while commuting Wednesday morning.

The winter weather conditions are expected to clear some by Wednesday afternoon.
