Detectives Track Thief Who Snatched Cop's Phone

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A thief who stole a cell phone Saturday was unlucky in that the phone belonged to a Pittsburgh Police detective.

Police eventually tracked the phone and arrested Ramiro Velasco, our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

The detective dropped the phone near a Brookline food cart Saturday around 5:30 p.m., the newspaper reports.

About three hours later, detectives with computer crimes located the phone at an Allentown home on West Warrington Avenue where one of the food cart employees, Velasco, lives, writes the newspaper. Once at the house, police also found other contraband, including marijuana.

Velasco was arrested and faces multiple charges, according to the Post-Gazette.
