Woman Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle In East Liberty

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A 70-year-old woman hit by a vehicle outside a McDonald's in East Liberty last week has died.

Estell Cepek died Sunday night at Allegheny General Hospital.

She was hit last Wednesday morning outside the McDonalds on Penn Circle West.

Cepek had been in the hospital since the incident.

Many who knew Cepek said she was a generous person and spent her life giving to others.

Cepek would stop at the McDonalds in East Liberty for a morning cup of coffee and walk two blocks tot he Mercy Behavioral Health Renaissance Center and volunteer.

While in the fast food restaurant's parking lot last week, she was hit by what police think was a dark SUV.

She was then taken to the hospital and believed to be in fair condition, but doctors discovered Cepek had broken bones and internal injuries.

She died from those injuries Sunday night.

Her family members in the process of making funeral arrangements and say they are sad and looking for answers.

Cepek died of injuries of the head, trunk and extremities.

Police believe someone may have been in the parking lot at the time of the hit and run and can provide a better description of the suspect.
