PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — Pitt basketball head coach Jamie Dixon joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday, after the Panthers defeated Providence 68-64 on the road Tuesday night.
He thinks Pitt is a better team now than it was when it started conference play, but says that he’d like to see his guys tighten things up, especially on defense.
“Our zone at times has caused some trouble for some teams,” Dixon said. “But I think we still gave up too many open looks, too many shots.”
He acknowledged that it’s always difficult to generate momentum amidst the grind of the Big East schedule.
“It’s a challenge every night out in our conference,” Dixon said. “There are close games just every single night.”
He did add, though, that guys have to accept that they’ll never quite get things to go exactly right.
“We’re trying to be perfect, and at times that’s a hard task to get to,” Dixon said.
