GREENSBURG (KDKA) — State police in Westmoreland County are asking your help in identifying a man caught on surveillance camera who robbed a woman earlier this month.

The woman had been shopping at the Giant Eagle in Hempfield Township when the thief snatched the wallet out of her purse.

Police say the man later used the woman’s credit card at a Sunoco station in Greensburg.

The woman, Dolores Ausec, said it was a terrifying ordeal.

“As I parked the cart, I wanted to get my keys out of my purse… and I saw this hand come over and my wallet was exposed naturally, so grabbed the wallet,” said Ausec. “I think I was so stunned cause I hesitated before I ran out after him.”

State police say the surveillance picture is a good one and should make the man recognizable to those who know him.

Anyone who can identify the man or who has any information about his whereabouts is being asked to call the State Police in Greensburg.
