Police Investigating After Body Found In Homewoood

HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a body was found slumped over in the bushes in Homewood Monday morning.

Police are currently trying to determine the man's identity and how long he had been there.

It was just after 7 a.m. when police returned to the very same area they were called to hours earlier.

The body was discovered slumped over in a row of bushes along Hamilton Avenue.

Around 2 a.m., police and first responders were called to the same area after a woman had been shot in the leg.

Information was not available on whether it was the same gunfire that killed the man, who possibly went unnoticed for some time.

Police say the body was that of 32-year-old Maurice Bruce of Munhall.

Neighbors were upset over the possibility that he may have been there undiscovered since the shooting.

One woman said that her young son was extremely disturbed after spotting the dead body before police had returned to the scene.

Police could not comment on the length of time he was there. However, they did say sanitation workers, who park their cars in the lot occasionally, told police they did not see the body when they were there around 5 a.m.

An autopsy for Bruce is set for Tuesday.
