CARRICK (KDKA) – Arson investigators were called to the scene of a fire in Carrick, which destroyed a home Monday night.

According to officials at the scene, the fire broke out at a home on Birmingham Avenue around 8 p.m.

The fire appears to have started near an outside door before spreading inside the structure.

“I looked out my window and all I seen was a street full of smoke, firetrucks lined down the street. Its pretty crazy. I figured id walk down and see what’s going on and they said there was a fire and someone lit the house on fire,” T.J. Johnson said.

According to police, a family member made a threat the day before saying he was going to burn down the house.

When crews arrived at the scene, there was an intense smell of gasoline.
