Cash 5 Jackpot Reaches $1.9 Million

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- When lottery games reach big jackpots, it's usually tens of millions of dollars in games like Mega Millions or Powerball, not jackpots around $2 million.

And, although Powerball is offering a big payout Wednesday night, it's the Cash 5 that everyone is talking about. That's because the jackpot is the highest it has been since the Cash 5 game began in 1992.

The Powerball payout is $208 million dollars, while the Cash 5 a mere $1.9 million.

But it's the biggest the Cash 5 payout since 2008. Back then, it was $1.8 million and two people won it.

The bigger jackpot may be more appealing, but check out the odds. Your chance of winning the Powerball is one in 75 million, but your chance of winning the Cash 5 is one in 962,000.

Giant Eagle is one of the top retailers for the Pennsylvania Lottery, so a lot of winners come out of there, a lot of Cash 5 winners.

No one has won the Cash 5 since Jan. 29, so it keeps on building and tonight just might be the night.
