Police On Alert After Girl Reports Being Followed In Brackenridge

BRACKENRIDGE (KDKA) -- Parents are on alert in one local community after a reported child luring, and now comes word of a suspicious incident in another community nearby.

On Monday, a 14-year-old girl in Springdale said a man tried to lure her into his car.

Now there's a report that an 11-year-old girl in Brackenridge felt a man in a red Jeep was following her and staring at her as she walked a dog on Monday morning.

She says the same vehicle drove by her again on Nelson Avenue later in the day.

Brackenridge Police Officer Justin McIntire says they're not calling the incident a luring because the man never said anything to her and never gestured to her.

However, he says they are calling it a suspicious incident and that the girl had a right to be startled. He says she did the right thing going to her mother.

The Highlands School District posted an alert on its website and called parents, as well.

While the Brackenridge incident involves a red Jeep, a tan-colored sedan is described in the Springdale luring.

Both are described as white men with beards; one with a reddish beard and the other a gray-brown one.
