Community Offers Show Of Support For Demoted Police Chief

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) — Hundreds of people turned out Thursday night to give demoted Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole a show of support.

It was standing room only inside the Monroeville Municipal Center with Cole supporters spilling out into the hallway.

Don Cwynar, whose daughter was killed in a car crash a couple of years ago, said Cole was at the scene of the accident that night.

Cwynar said, “He went from being a police officer to a loving caring dad and his words were comforting that night.”

Four members of the seven-member Monroeville Council backed the move to demote Cole.

There will be a council meeting next week when a move to reinstate Cole is expected.
