PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – The Matt Cooke Show makes its debut on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan, as the Penguins forward joins Vinnie & Cook for his first weekly appearance.

With a 5-2 demolition of the Washington Capitals, the Penguins have won five straight.

Evgeni Malkin’s score sparked a five-goal barrage against Washington.

“It’s just a fun time for our team right now,” Cooke admits. “We feel like we’re playing the right way. A real strength of our team is [our ability to] stick with it, and we did it. With Geno’s goal, our confidence just exploded, and you saw what can happen when that happens.”

Cooke is also pleased that the Penguins didn’t let up against the Capitals, who have struggled to a 2-8-1 start.

“They’re really talented offensively, and I don’t suspect that it will continue on the way that it is,” Cooke says of the Capitals. “But when we scored so quickly back-to-back, some of that ‘here we go again’ mentality creeped in. And when we sensed that, we became a little more aggressive on offense.”

Cooke also looks ahead to two key matchups against the New Jersey Devils.

Matt Cooke will join Vinnie & Cook each week for an inside look at the Penguins. His next appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 14.
