Friends Remember Teen Killed In Route 28 Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An accident on Route 28 over the weekend claimed the life of a teenage girl. Now, she is being remembered as a hard worker with a positive attitude.

"When she walked in, always smile on her face," Haroon Mirza said. "Very good employee, no problem, no problem at all. On time, very good with customers, very good with my baby, with me, everybody happy with her."

Now, wonderful memories of Rikki Flemming, 18, of Etna, are now shadowed by the tragic reality that she is gone.

The accident happened Saturday shortly after 11 p.m. when Flemming's car was hit from behind. It flew across Route 28 northbound. The car flipped and exploded into flames.

Despite wearing a seat belt, she was thrown from her car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the car that struck Flemming was being driven by Jared Schiillinger, 28, of Cheswick.

Police also suspect Schillinger was drunk.

Meanwhile, family and friends mourn the loss of Flemming whose adult life was just beginning.

"She was very friendly, very good girl. I'm very sad about this news, very sad. She was so young for this thing," Mirza said.
