PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Matt Pitzarella joined Robert Mangino in studio to host The Marcellus Shale Hour.

The topic of discussion Tuesday was the switch from old, dirtier forms of electricity, to new and cleaner forms of natural gas electricity.

Technological advances and and seasoned operators have resulted in less violations than in the past.

Michael Krancer, Secretary Department of Environmental Protection, also talked about Act 13 which addresses regulatory authority.

Krancer believes Act 13 does a good job of keeping Marcellus in check, making sure practices are safe and getting safer in the future.  He also believes future technological advances will further prevent pollutants across the board in all industries.
