'Yinz Can't Park!' A Hit With Pittsburghers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Have you ever pulled into a parking lot to find a car taking up two spots

What about another car parked so close to yours, that you can't even open the door?

Sometimes people park poorly and because of that, a North Hills man has launched a new website.

Dan Greenwald, 39, of Shaler, said he sees these sights all over the area.

KDKA's Sarah Arbogast Reports:

It was one in particular - a mini van parked in two spots at a GetGo station - that convinced him to launch the website, Yinz Can't-Park.

"I thought, you know, my friends and family would find it funny. I thought it would be more just for me. Every so often if I found someone who was parked crookedly, or awkwardly, or obnoxiously, I would just post a picture, but it's really gotten a pretty big response," Greenwald said.

Greenwald has been snapping pictures all over the area and posting them online.

In addition to the website, he has started up Facebook and Twitter pages.

He said people from all over the country have been submitting photos.

"Every time I go somewhere, I'm provided new material, and at least 2 to 3 times a week I get submissions from across the city," Greenwald said.

One guy in Pittsburgh actually walked around a local Whole Foods store parking lot taking video.

"It's mostly done for fun, but I think there is a certain awareness that needs to take place. I mean, obviously if you look at the site, there are some people who are just so oblivious to how they are leaving their vehicle when they park. It's crazy to think that people get out of their car and walk away and think that it's okay," Greenwald said.

Listen to Greenwald speak with KDKA-AM's Larry and John about the site:

So, if you don't want to see your own vehicle on this site, you better be careful the next time you park.
