PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Just a few years ago, Kyle McPherson was a Neanderthal – at least on the mound.

That’s how he described his pitching style when he was drafted out of an NAIA school in Alabama in 2007.

McPherson didn’t even pitch all that much in college, primarily playing the infield.

In a conversation with Pirates pre-game and post-game show host Dan Zangrilli, McPherson discussed his evolution from a throwing Neanderthal to refined pitching candidate for the Pirates major league rotation.
