MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) — Two people are dead and another person was rushed to the hospital Saturday evening following a shooting Saturday evening in the parking lot of a bar in Westmoreland County.
The triple shooting happened sometime after 7 p.m. just off of Route 22 in the parking lot of the Cozy Inn Bar & Grill in Murrysville.
According to the police chief in Murrysville, a man and woman were killed and a third person, a woman, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.
Officials at the scene tell KDKA’s Christine D’Antonio that the hospitalized woman suffered a gunshot wound to her upper torso and is in stable condition.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
Police say the fatal shooting appears to have stemmed from a domestic incident.
“We have two deceased people in the parking lot – one a male, one a female. We also have a third female victim who was LifeFlighted to AGH,” Murrysville Police Chief Tom Seefeld said. “It’s apparent that the situation is the result of a domestic problem.”
According to initial reports, officers on the scene believe that the man shot and killed one woman and then shot and injured another woman before he was shot and killed.
Police say the man and woman who were killed were not related, but it remains unclear what relationship the woman who was injured had with the two.
According to investigators, the three people involved in the incident never entered the bar, which wasn’t open at the time of the shooting.
“The call did come in 20, 25 after seven tonight. It came in from two people who witnessed – one was a motorist on Route 22 who actually heard the shots, another one was a gentleman over in this area here who heard the shots,” said Chief Seefeld. “When our officers arrived, we had two people on the ground deceased and a third victim, female victim, was also shot. It is not related to Cozy Inn Bar. The situation with the people that ended up in this parking lot were not patrons or owners of the bar.”
Investigators remained on the scene late into the night and the Westmoreland County Coroner arrived just before 11 p.m.
