Police: Mother Abandons Baby In Woods, Claims She Wanted A Fresh Start

WALL, Pa. (KDKA) — Police say a Wall woman left her baby in the woods, with nothing but a bottle of milk.

Neighbors say around 6 p.m. Wednesday night they witnessed 24-year-old Jennifer Cutruzzula walk into the woods along Erwin Street in Waldoborough.

She went into the woods with her 8-month old baby girl in her arms, but when she returned she didn't have the baby.

Neighbors ran to find the baby covered in mud, and called 911.

East McKeesport police responded and arrested Cutruzzula.

They say she told them she wanted a "fresh start."

The baby was taken to Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville and is doing just fine.

At a news conference Thursday, Allegheny District Attorney Stephen Zappala said Cutruzzula is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, and potentially other charges.

Zapala says, "she could have dropped the baby off at any hospital in this county, and walked away."
