Alvarez Looking To Cut Down On Ks In 2013

BRADENTON, Fla. (KDKA) - Pedro Alvarez is coming off a breakthrough season in which he hit 30 home runs with 85 RBIs.

However, he also struck out 180 times – once every 3.3 plate appearances.

Jim Colony had a chance to chat with Alvarez about working with and really getting to know his new hitting instructor Jay Bell, his off-season workouts with Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker.

Alvarez joked that the pair actually worked out with him, not the other way around.

They also discussed whether he agrees with teammates that it's time for this core group to break the seemingly endless cycle of losing seasons.
