Woman In Custody After Allegedly Shooting At Police In Perry South

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police have a woman in custody after she allegedly fired a gun at officers.

The incident happened Wednesday evening at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Federal Street Extension in Pittsburgh's Perry South neighborhood.

Police went to the neighborhood for reports of shots being fired.

But now it seems the shooting could be a case of fear and mistaken identity. Officials say the woman, 64-year-old Lorraine Taylor, saw them near her home, got scared and opened fire at an unmarked police car that followed her into her driveway.

She told police she was concerned because of the gunshots heard in the neighborhood and thought the police car was someone looking for trouble.

No one was injured

Police took the Taylor away in handcuffs.

They are trying to obtain a search warrant to look inside her home.

No word yet on if charges will be filed.
