PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local girl fighting cancer had a magical moment Sunday.

A fairytale came to life in Greensburg, as she got to feel what it’s like to walk in the shoes of a princess.

For 9-year-old Kaeleigh Beregi, it was a dream come true – a Cinderella story.

She was whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage, because Sunday she was a princess on her way to the ball.

“Oh she loves the princesses,” Beregi’s mother, Laura, said.

But she doesn’t always live the life of a princess. For Beregi and her family, it’s a hope against hope – she is fighting stage four cancer.

Doctors say there’s nothing else they can do for the little girl.

But none of that mattered Sunday.

“I think she’s going to enjoy being a princess for a day,” Laura Beregi said.

A non-profit group called “Jamie’s Dream Team” organized the princess ball. They often fulfill dreams for children suffering from serious illness.

Jamie Holmes with the organization said the princess event was one of the largest they’ve ever held and soon will host a wedding for a couple.

But for now, they fulfilled Kaeleigh’s dream, which just may be the dream of a lifetime.
