PITTSBURGH – (NewsRadio 1020) KDKA’s Rob Pratte sat down with Christopher Guith, Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce For 21st Century Energy Sunday morning to talk about what the oil and gas development has done for the country, as well as our region.
In Pennsylvania alone, well over 100,000 jobs have come just from the shale gas in 2012 and his study is expecting that number to double by the year 2020.
He went on to say that this isn’t just about jobs, but also economic development.
Rob and Christopher also talked about how to keep the jobs local.
“It’s very important that the region have the intellectual base that the industry needs,” Guith said. “I’ve been out there in the last few months and you see a lot more PA plates.”
Another issue that he said was that the jobs in other industries that come from this gas growth can’t be discounted.
